Maja Jagodic

Maja Jagodic is a Professor of Neuroinflammation and Head of the Neuro Division at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, where she leads a translational research group at the Center for Molecular Medicine. After earning her MSc from the University of Belgrade, she completed her PhD at Karolinska Institutet followed by advanced postdoctoral fellowships in human genetics and epigenetics at Karolinska and the University of Cambridge. Her pioneering research centers on the functional epigenomics of neuroinflammatory diseases, specifically exploring how genetic and environmental factors interact through epigenetic mechanisms to drive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) progression. Supported by major funding bodies like the European Research Council and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, her laboratory aims to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets to improve personalized clinical management and discover treatments that can stop neurodegeneration.
