Dr. Tatsuro Misu is presently a Professor at the Clinical Research, Innovation and Education Center (CRIETO) in Tohoku University Hospital, Sendai, Japan. After he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Hirosaki University in 1997, he pursued clinical and post-graduate training at the Department of Neurology in Tohoku University Hospital and obtained his medical doctor degree from Tohoku University in 2003. Since 2005, he has been an Assistant Professor at Tohoku University hospital. In 2010, he stayed in Vienna as a Gastforscher in the Department of Neuroimmunology at Vienna Medical University (Prof. Lassmann). From 2019, he has been a lecturer in Tohoku University Hospital, and now worked as a professor from 2024. His principal research activity has been in neurology and neuroimmunology, especially the clinical and pathological research of neuromyelitis optica (NMO), multiple sclerosis (MS) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) associated diseases, for developing new treatments. He has published over 150 papers in well-known high-impact peer-reviewed international journals. He was awarded as the best presenter by Japanese Society of Neuroimmunology (2007), Pan-Asian, and European committee of treatment and research in MS (PACTRIMS Awards, 2008) (ECTRIMS Award, 2013).
