Professor Institute of Neuroscience Fujian Medical University Fujian | China
Rui Li, MD, PhD. is currently a professor in the Institute of Neuroscience at Fujian Medical University. Dr. Li obtained a M.D degree at Harbin Medical University in China in 2009. In 2015, he completed his Ph.D training at McGill University in Canada. Then, he continue his postgraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Dr. Amit Bar-Or. Dr. Li started to be the scientific director of Center for neuroinflammation and experimental therapeutics at the University of Pennsylvania until 2022.
The focus of Dr. Li’s research is the roles of B cells in multiple sclerosis (MS). Dr. Li identified a population of pro-inflammatory B cells that is involved in the pathogenesis of MS. He also revealed the molecular mechanisms that regulate the balance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory B cells in the context of MS.
