Dr. Rachael Dangarembizi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Biology and a neuroscientist at the Neuroscience Institute, University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her research is focused on investigating the mechanisms underlying brain injury during fungal neuroinfections, bridging fundamental neuroscience with translational goals to improve diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. Dr. Dangarembizi is also deeply engaged in building neuroscience research capacity across Africa and plays a leading role in regional and international initiatives to advance neuroimmunology and brain health on the continent.
