The Medical Faculty of the University of Münster has an open position for an endowed
Assistant Professorship for Systems Neuroinflammation (W1 Position)
at the Department of Neurology funded by Roche through the Stifterverband commencing as soon as possible.
The professorship represents the field of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology in the area of Neuroinflammation and is embedded into the research concept of the Body and Brain Institute Münster, which is currently built at the university campus of the medical faculty. The focus of the professorship lies in the integration and integrated analysis of multi-parametric large data sets from human patient cohorts with distinct neuroinflammatory diseases. The successful candidate is requested to develop innovative bioinformatic strategies for state of the art analysis of these multi-categorial data sets including novel machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches.
The Medical Faculty expects active collaborations with the existing collaborative research programs such as the CRC transregio 128 “Multiple Sclerosis”, the research unit 2107 “Neurobiology of Affective disorders”, the research unit 2879 “Immunostroke” and the CRC 1009 “Breaking Barriers – Immune cells and pathogens at cell / matrix barriers”.
The prerequisites for consideration include a higher education degree, pedagogical aptitude in university teaching and special academic qualification, usually substantiated by the quality of the candidate’s doctoral thesis. Candidates are working or have worked abroad and have usually completed their doctorate no longer than five years ago.
The position is limited to three years with the possibility of a three-year extension following a positive interim evaluation.
